Dark Match from WWE’s Night of Champions, Jeff Hardy Wins Big and More
By Marc Middleton on July 26, 2009- Jeff Hardy defeated CM Punk at tonight’s WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view in Philadelphia, PA to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Other title changes on the show saw Mickie James defeat Maryse to become the new WWE Divas Champion and Christian defeat Tommy Dreamer to become the new ECW Champion.
- Tonight’s show was a legit sell out with 17,774 fans in attendance at the Wachovia Center.
- The dark match before Night of Champions saw Cryme Tyme defeat The Hart Dynasty after Shad got the pin on Tyson Kidd.
- In other news from the pay-per-view, Chris Jericho chose Big Show to be his partner and the other half of the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions. Big Show came out with a new look and helped Jericho defend the titles successfully against Legacy.
