Why “Rowdy” Roddy Piper Hosted Raw At MSG

As seen this past Monday night, the one and only “Rowdy” Roddy Piper hosted Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden. WWE officials originally had their sights set on having players from the 2009 World Champion New York Yankees hosting Raw at “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” but were unable to come to terms. The WWE Hall of Famer was the fallback plan as there is a feeling that he, like other stars from wrestling’s past, can be placed on just about any show when the company is unable to secure a mainstream celebrity.

From Piper’s view, he was telling people he needed to appear on television to prove that the online rumors from a few weeks ago concerning his health were not true.

Piper has a great reputation within the company for being easy to work with.

“You can call him on a Sunday and he’ll hop on a plane on Monday,” one WWE source said.

    This guest host crap has to end right? the only good host are former wrestlers I thought hot rod dusty and dibiase we all fantastic host but there are several nights I didn’t watch just because of who the host were

    is it me or did the hot rod seem a bit outa it when he talked to the crowd and to call out VKM? he was like just wobbling around, he kept stopping for no reason (although he did stop for the fans reactions) and i could see him reading the stuff he written down on his palms specifically when he said o wait a minute (he peers down at his palms) o yeah one more thing…

    baddog_1_2k you say the only good hosts are the former wrestlers but then say you sometimes don’t watch because of who the host is. How can you say they didn’t do a good job if you didn’t watch?
