Update on The Brian Kendrick’s Departure from WWE, What People Are Saying

Posted by Marc Middleton on Friday, July 31st, 2009

- The latest victim of WWE’s dreaded “future endeavors” announcement was The Brian Kendrick, and a PWInsider report sheds the first bit of light on the matter.

According to the report, Kendrick’s release can largely be attributed to his backstage attitude and motivation as a performer. The internal feeling was that while Kendrick did what he was told, he carried a negative attitude and gave the impression that he did not deeply care about being there. WWE thus saw little potential for Kendrick to breakout as a valuable member of the roster and opted to sever its ties with the wrestler.

It remains to be seen if Kendrick’s release is a compounded consequence of his behavior or if a specific incident brought WWE officials’ concerns to a boil.

Sources are also quick to mention reports that Kendrick was one of WWE’s most frequently-fined Superstars for marijuana use, although it is unclear if that played any role in his release–under the Wellness Policy, there is no punishment, beyond the fine, for using the drug.

saw this coming back when Paul London got released. Slowly, but surely, WWE is dropping a lot of the cruiser weight sizes, and they know that they’re on the chopping block, so they loose any care they have.

except they should be happy that they are employeed these days. I understand they are on the chopping block but when it comes down to it the cruiser weights are not all on the chopping block. I can say that if a heavyweight had the same attitude as a cruiser weight then they would be in the same situation. The top names in the company have put way more into the company than a Brian Kendrick has. John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton, Shawn Micheals, Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker and the list goes on. They all have done way more and have put in the time they needed to get where they are. Rey is a former world champ and he is just a big as Kendrick. So yes I will say it’s about the attitude you have and the willingness to learn the business from the people who have been there.

The WWE grants far more opportunities to the smaller wrestlers than they ever have before.

So I don’t buy the notion that he was too small.

He just had a poor attitude.

Agreed. He had his chance to become a high mid carder back on smackdown and it just seemed like he didnt do anything to take him to main event status. Hopefully he goes to TNA and competes for the X Division Title.

i don’t think it really helped that everytime they started a push for him they abandoned it.

I mean as soon as they re-packaged him he never got any sort of win streak… why bother repackaging if you aren’t going to give him a push?

i hope tna signs him and pretty much does the same angle. i think if he can add a little more weight, he could be a brian pillman esque type guy.

Yes they repackaged him but if the attitude isn’t there then he would have had a win streak going but if the reports are correct about his attitude being sub par the repackaged athlete will be held back

well obviously all we can do is speculate… i just know i’d maybe be a little down if the company kept giving mixed signals. we’re going to repackage you, but we aren’t going to have you get pushed?

then we’re going to have jerry lawler bitch slap you around? none of it makes any sense to me.

It seems like both times Kendrick ended up moving to Raw was the end for him. While he was still teaming with London and they were tag team champions on Smackdown for almost a year, they got drafted to Raw and the team fizzled out and did pretty much nothing at all. Then when Kendrick got moved back over to Smackdown and became THE Brian Kendrick, he was in the ring with the likes of Hardy and H and even got a WWE title shot at a PPV. All looked well until he was moved back over to Raw again, then he fizzled out. Seems to me he was fine whenever he was on Smackdown, but the people behind Raw seem like they have something againts him. I bet if he woulda stayed on Smackdown, he might still be around cause of the way the writers would have been using him, no?

No, He began to fizzle out on smackdown before he ever got drafted to Raw. An whoever says he didn’t get a push after he was repackaged is also wrong. He was in a main event match on a ppv for the title. He temporarily was even the champion during that match. So he was pushed. However, if this report is true then that is obviously why his push got stopped and he began to job.

@ Jason. WWE is not retarded. A real wrestling fan would appreciate WWE,TNA, and RoH. You just sound like a generic TNA mark.

Haha, It doesn’t claim to be real in the mainstream media, just an athletic show.. similar to a martial arts demonstration, as opposed to a fight.

And as for predictability.. “Christian debuts on a random episode of ECW”…

Umm good im glad he got released by WWE they did more good for him by doing that he wasn’t getting used right even though he had amazing talent the didn’t put his “the Brian Kendrick” gimmick to it’s best use and it had really good potential to make him a top star but for some Reason WWE decided to scrap his push i for one would have loved to see him in the title picture on RAW instead of the same old junk John Cena or Triple H vs Randy Orton or a 3 way between them WWE DESPERATELY needs new breakout stars and they aren’t doing a very good job of making any lately..

I think he was ok. I mean last year around this time when he had his push it was pretty cool. I mean i know the cocky storyline has been done a million times but I really liked him. I mean he was so annoying because he was like 150 pounds but he was funny because of Zeke. And he was awesome in the scramble match at unforgiven last year. Would love to see him and london vs the Motor City Machinguns. Dream Match
