Update on Ambrose & Rollins’ WWE Status, News for Tonight’s RAW Supershow

- Tonight’s WWE RAW Supershow will take place from the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Tonight’s show is the final RAW before the Royal Rumble. Advertised locally is John Cena vs. Kane and CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler. It’s interesting to note that Alberto Del Rio and Sin Cara are being advertised for tonight’s show in an updated listing that includes Chris Jericho. Cara isn’t scheduled to return for months and at last word, Del Rio wouldn’t be back in time for the Rumble. Randy Orton is also scheduled for tonight’s show.

- Top FCW stars Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have impressed WWE officials and reportedly have spots on the main roster but have not been called up yet because of a new decree from Triple H.

Triple H has said that he wants no new talents brought up from FCW unless the creative team has a solid storyline for them to debut with and a strong gimmick. Officials are very high on Ambrose and while they feel that Rollins has some areas to work on, he’s considered right up there with Ambrose.

    Why do they need a damn gimmick? I’ve got an idea, how about their gimmicks be that of what they are, 2 of the best damn wrestlers on the planet

    Perhaps gimmick is being misused here. Maybe he just wants them to come up to the shows with a character or some type of a hook, so to speak. Something other than guy in tights with a tribalesque ass design. Give them a personality so that it doesn’t seem like another cookie cutter prototype generic wrestler from the farm system

    I think you hit the nail on the head. So many guys in the past few years have had absolutely no character, and they’ve suffered from it. Heck, they gave Brodus Clay a gimmick, and I for one think he’s pretty damn entertaining, much more interesting than his other gimmick of being the big tough guy.

    Everyone always wants to go back to the Attitude era, but if you look at it, it actually had guys come in with unique and interesting character ideas, and that’s what actually made it work.

    ^^^^^^ Exactly. I think making sure you have a solid storyline for them first is a smart move. Bout damn time someone used some common sense.

    I’m glad by this decree that Trips has made.

    While I will be the first to say that I’m anticipating the debut of these two great wrestlers, I’ll be willing to wait a little bit longer until creative have something for them. It’s better that they have a gimmick, storyline and TV time consistently than floating around in the lower mid card as some talented wrestlers have in the past.

    dean ambrose twisted roddy piper gimmick works well enough rollins character needs direction though

    I agree with the decree. Give these guys some character or something to do (like Brodus Clay).

    This makes me wonder about guys like Paul Burchill. I think he would have gone a lot farther if he kept the pirate gimmick. Instead, they tried to bring him back as a tough, Triple H-looking guy who is tough, likes to fight, and is tough. Did I mention tough? Well yeah, that didn’t work, did it?

    scooter is right. Rollins needs a gimmick. Ambrose already has one and it is awesome!! Every minute that goes by is wasted, bring him up boys.

    Yea, these guys will need gimmicks. Look how nexus turned out. It’s because the whole group didn’t have gimmicks. Barrett and Bryan were the only guys who got over.
