Steve Austin On TNA: “It’s A Totally Different Product”

Last night’s RAW guest host, Stone Cold Steve Austin, recently appeared on Hardcore Sports Radio. When asked about WWE RAW and TNA iMPACT now facing off on Monday nights, he had this to say:

“I don’t know if we’ll ever re-create that Nitro-Raw war. WCW kicked our ass for two years, then we smoked their ass and never looked back and put them out of business.

“I wish the TNA people all the luck in the world because it means more of the boys have jobs and it gives fans an alternative.

“I don’t think anyone will ever come close to really giving true competition to WWE because they’re so far ahead of the game, they’re rooted in their system, and they’re a winner.

“I wish TNA all the luck in the world, but it’s a totally different product.”

Major spoiler for Bret vs. Vince at WrestleMania 26

Austin is a legend and you can’t fault what he said but he doesn’t take a cheap dig at TNA while he’s doing it. Its just the truth.

Austin could care less about wrestling anymore based on his performance on RAW.

    IMO of course.

Props to Austin for not being a ****, but it’s pretty clear that he’s mistaken. Look at some of the sewage that’s been thrown out as storylines, and you can clearly see that wwe may be on top, but it’s not because they’re a winner.

There just hasn’t been any serious competition because of one very simple top dog tactic, namely, throwing money at problems. Wwe has the deep pockets to buy off people, to pay them to stay at home and not work for competitors(as we’ve seen with Charlie Haas), and let’s face it, especially in these times, a person’s gotta go where the paycheck is. No shame in that… but that doesn’t mean someone else who comes along with better writing, good performers, and who’s willing to take risks can’t unseat the top dog.

The obvious gimmicks in so-called ‘celebrity’ guest hosts, the sudden ‘coincidental’ makeup with Bret Hart, all the things wwe has done to try and make raw more interesting(which, IMO, have sadly failed, as they don’t see the underlying reasons raw sucks) prove that Austin is mistaken, that wwe does see Tna as a threat. Not a large one, not yet, but it’s on the horizon. And if wwe doesn’t remove its collective head from its collective rear, it’s going to find itself playing catchup one day, as people move away from the stale, overdone and rehashed plots and the same tired faces squabbling over the same championships for the tenth time(Cena vs. Orton XXVIII, anyone?).

Why do American’s always say they “could” care less? Surely if they could care less, that means they care something?

The saying is you “couldn’t” care less, as in “you don’t care, so it’s not possible to care any less”.

Sorry, just something that really bugs me!

True enough. Another sign of how far our educational standards have fallen.

why does Wellsy13 make a grammatical error by putting an apostrophe in “Americans” when trying to correct someone else’s grammar? LOL!

    @ Wellsy13

    “that means they care something?”

The apostrophe is a common mistake made by the British who follow English grammatical rules which is different from American grammar. In this case, the American English is known to leave out an apostrophe when describing a geographical place. As for ‘care something’, it’s a play on words. Read it again before responding with fucktarded comments.

Anyhoo, back to the wrestling. Brody, I disagree. The Guest Host routine is being used to sell a product each week whereas the Bret feud just so happened to coincide with the TNA rise this year. Bret, if anything, was going to to be in a Mania program regardless. I do think WWE are aware of TNA, hence why Smackdown has remained somewhat unchanged, but in terms of seeing TNA as a threat – I doubt it.

TNA still have a long way to go and it’ll be a while before they get to the top. Like many people on here say, TNA should worry about themselves more so then the WWE. At the moment, they’re aspiring to be something they’re cannot be. If anything, Vince would look at them and say something along the lines of “Scram kid. Come back when you got something important to say”.

The Rock and Stone Cold were two that helped saved WWE when it looked like it was going under.

I agree with Daniel Stockwell. TNA should concentrate on themselves and stop boasting that they will beat WWE in the ratings. Stop boasting when you are not ready.

The Steve Austin of 1998 would fit in a lot better at TNA than the watered down WWE of 2010.
