Date: Jan 23, 2012 at 10:26 AMI can’t remember the last time that Orton faced Undertaker, has he faced taker with the viper gimmick ? Or just with the legend killer? The viper heel vs the phenom that would be awesome.

Date: Jan 23, 2012 at 11:18 AMI also miss the heel Randy Orton an if you ask me that is what the WWE is lacking right now. One major heel to many face if you ask me. An Randy Orton would be the perfect guy to turn heel.

Date: Jan 23, 2012 at 12:39 PMAn Orton vs. Kane match could work, possibly even at WM, considering it was Randy Orton who cost Kane the WHC match against HHH in 2003, which forced Kane to unmask. Of course, we all know how WWE hates to reference anything more than 2 years ago, unless it involves a triumphant John Cena or Randy Orton moment.

Date: Jan 23, 2012 at 1:02 PMNo offense Orton. But I’m sick and tired, as a fan, of seeing guys like you, and Cena, and HHH, and Batista, in the top matches at WM. I don’t mind Taker. His career is almost up, and having an Undertaker match at WM has become one of the events grandest traditions. One that we aren’t going to have much longer. This last one, I think, will probably be the last.
But honestly, CM Punk vs. Someone belongs in the title match. I guess WWE doesn’t feel that would sell enough tickets? It would, if they bothered actually HYPING Punk as champ, and making him, and the match, seem like a big deal. Instead, they’re perfectly content to fall back on old stars like Rocky making sparse appearances, and the Old Faithful, John Cena, being in the main event somehow. If you want to push new stars and new champions, you might want to give fans a reason to care about them first. Just ask Bryan Danielson. The guy is World Champ, yet you wouldn’t know it from the way you treat him, whether he was a face or now a “heel”. I wouldn’t be surprised if his match at WM, if he even gets one, is lower on the card than whatever waste-of-time Snooki vs. Divas match you come up with.
This is why I’m not a big fan of WWE anymore. I grew up a HUGE fan of the WWF, have been watching regularly since at least 1996. But over the last few years, I’ve quit watching nearly as much, because quite frankly, the show just doesn’t interest me that much anymore. You went from at least having a lot of new, up-and-coming, INTERESTING characters, like Hurricane, and Carlito, and Shelton Benjamin, and Mr. Kennedy, and MVP, and RVD, etc., to now having, in my mind, just about the most bland and boring crop of new talent I may have ever seen this company possess.
I’m sorry. But we’re talking Carlito, MVP, Gregory Helms, Shelton Benjamin, Mr. Kennedy, Edge, RVD, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, etc. vs. Sheamus, Wade Barret, Mason Ryan, Alex Riley, The Miz, Drew McIntyre, Dolf Ziggler, now “The Funkasaurus”? Granted, you’ve got Punk and Bryan. You’ve got Kofi. You’ve got R-Truth. Hell, I guess even Zach Ryder at least has a personality and some skill. But it’s not even close.
You look at the New Generation era, where the old 80s guard gave way to a whole crop of new stars, like Bret Hart, HBK, Undertaker, Yokozuna, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Mr. Perfect, Bam Bam Bigelow, Diesel, Razor Ramon, Vader, Jeff Jarret, Goldust, Ahmed Johnson, Sycho Sid, etc. Those were great times. Look at all those names.
How many of these new cats do you honestly think are going to be vividly remembered by wrestling fans 20 years from now? Punk, maybe. If he’s lucky and WWE doesn’t continue pretty much burying him, maybe Bryan. Of course Orton and Cena, because WWE shoves them down our throats. But is anyone really going to give a crap about Wade Barret in 10, 20 years? Or Ziggler? Or Ryder? Or Sheamus? Sorry…but personally, I kind of doubt it.

Date: Jan 23, 2012 at 2:08 PMZiggler, Punk, Miz, R-Truth, Del Rio, Rhodes, and possibly Ryder are the only ones I would think will mean something in 20 years, but I don’t think Barret will be there. If they can only bring Carlito back as the leader of a Colon faction, they really missed something there.

Date: Jan 23, 2012 at 9:11 PMMy bad, I forgot Cody Rhodes. And he is actually pretty good. So is Ted DiBiase Jr., if they’d actually bother using him. Del Rio is also a pro, and a hell of a lot more intersting than most of the guys I mentioned. Ryder is entertaining, and I don’t DISLIKE him, but still. Ziggler though? I dunno….he’s a good wrestler. But he’s still a bit generic. I guess my point was that today’s personalities, with a few exceptions, don’t “stand out” like they did in the 80s era, or the New Generation era, or the Attitude era….or hell, even the “WWE/Brock Lesnar” era.
But I agree about Carlito. That would be the best thing to do, period, is have him come and be the main singles star of the Colon faction. That would be awesome.
