But the real question here is, why the hell is Sheamus the poster boy? Does that mean WWE will continue to try to force him as a main eventer onto us?
When will Vince get it through his thick skull, you can’t just hand the belt to someone and make the audience connect with them. They have to build themselves first and establish themselves. Injuring a jobber and attacking a commentator isn’t establishing!

Date: Feb 28, 2010 at 8:37 PMTo be honest, the WWE is doing what it has to in order to make stars… whether you hate them or you love them. In my mind, with as much hate that Sheamus gets consistently, I think they’re system is working.
Let me explain what I mean before I get bombarded with hate comments. In my opinion, this is how a heel champion is supposed to work. When a heel is champion, you’re supposed to hate the fact they are champion, and feel they don’t deserve it. You are supposed to watch each defense, match, and promo they do and hope that they will lose the title, sometimes to someone you really like, and in other cases (Cena/JBL/HHH) to ANYONE. Hence Sheamus. Myself included, didn’t feel like he deserved a title run so quickly… but I think with the “burden” put on him, he did a good job.
This takes me to the point I talked about earlier. The WWE NEEDS new stars, not just uber faces, but monster heels. And it has to be immediate, especially if TNA is going to go live, and they’re ending the Guest Host angle (YAY!) I personally felt Jack Swagger was the one they should have backed, but Sheamus so far in my opinion has been doing what is asked. I agree with all of you that they can’t force a star onto us; In the same regard, I don’t see it as much as them “forcing” someone onto us, as it is them preparing the next batch of stars to come through.
Guys see what I mean?

I don’t think Sheamus has been doing a good job. He has no real mic skill and his moves in the ring are just plain bad. This is the reason people do not like him, and are pissed he is being shoved down our throat. Sheamus in my view will never be a main carder because he does not have what it takes to keep the fans entertained (heel or no heel) and this is where the problem for me lies.

He’s not all that bad, but having him come out of nowhere and win the title without “doing anything” first was really stupid. The guy had no build, no storyline….he just showed up and was champion suddenly.

Date: Feb 28, 2010 at 10:46 PMIt’s not that I’m picky in any light, just trying to validate the argument that the WWE is basically about to finally open the doors for a main event at one of the “Big Four” pay-per-views that doesn’t involve HHH/Cena/HBK/Batista/Orton/ or Taker, and we actually give a damn who wins. As much as I hated seeing Sheamus in a WWE title match and winning, I loved the fact the WWE actually put a guy in a match and made him a Champion that hasn’t held the title at least TWICE in the past five years. Think about that… since 2007, I don’t recall anyone besides the names I put above, along with CM Punk, Edge, and Y2J, NO other star had the title?! Sheamus winning the title, as disturbing as it was, also was refreshing at the same time, if you think of it that way.
As I’ve said, I still believe Jack Swagger is the star the WWE needs to back RIGHT NOW! If they can put Dolph Ziggler in the MITB, Swagger should be in there as well. And while there will be the constant argument Sheamus will ultimately have to prove himself before he’s looked at like a major, him being the champion wasn’t that bad… remember when the Great Khali had the belt?
