More on Last Night’s RAW and iMPACT Ratings

Posted by Marc Middleton on Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

- As noted before, this week’s WWE RAW with Steve Austin scored a 3.7 rating with around 5.60 million viewers. The first hour drew a 3.68 rating and the second hour drew a 3.73. RAW was up 8.2% in ratings this week compared to last week and viewership was up 10%.

The first hour of RAW drew 5.57 million viewers, the most first-hour viewers since the August 24th, 2009 RAW – the night after SummerSlam. The second hour went to 5.63 million viewers, the most since January 4th, 2010.

iMPACT’s first hour last night averaged an 0.88 and the second hour did an 0.80 rating. The iMPACT rating this week was down 15% from last week and viewership was down 21.4% from last week.

Just like last week, iMPACT followed the pattern of starting with a high number that dropped throughout the show, including the AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy main event. iMPACT opened with an 0.84 quarter-hour segment but bottomed-out with an 0.72 rating for the final 15 minutes of the show. The over-run for the end of the main event slightly increased to an 0.74.

Wow this just goes to show you how many “kiddos” watch wrestling compared to teens and adults. Most teens and adults watch UFC anyway and we all know kids would never watch TNA because Vince McMahon is giving them…John FREAKIN AMAZING Cena.

I will still watch TNA. I hope you all do the same.

Hay Allen Michael, this doesn’t show who is better, this shows simply who has more viewers. More viewers doesn’t always equal quality.

TNA is the better show. TNA is putting out some solid, entertaining stuff with very good matches!

AJ Styles vs Jeff Hardy was very good!

Mick Foley shaving Bischoff’s head was funny.

The TNA Divas are 100 times more athletic and dynamic than the all the Barbie lookalikes in WWE.

TNA’s roster is way superior than TNA’s. I think the taped shows are hurting TNA. They need to go live. They need that unpredictability and element of surprise.

TNA will get better ratings, they just need to stay in there. Don’t sing victory for WWE yet haters.

I’m sorry, but I still think in order for TNA to survive, they needed to atay on thursday nights. Did you see the the Thursday rerun had a higher rating than the Monday live show? That should be a sign for TNA.

Instead of TNA saying how they will beat WWE in the Monday night Wars, they should concentrate on improving their show. Stop bragging on what you going to do to WWE and then each week never being able to carry out the Brag! TNA must love giving WWE free publicity.

I think this site is a little confused in one article about the ratings it says Raw got a 3.68 in the first hour and a 3.73 in the second hour and in another article they have it the other way around, with a 3.73 in the first hour.

I don’t watch TNA. I find it boring and hard to watch throughout the entire show. I’ve tried to watch it several times but just can’t get into and I do think that WWE is the better product.

Vince really doesn’t have anything to worry about because he’s good at doing business. Whether you want to believe it or not, it’s true. He’s been successful for so many years, it’s hard not to believe that.

RAW might not be as good as it was in the Attitude era but Vince has to try NEW things to see what works and what doesn’t work. And right now, there are a bunch of kids watching wrestling so PG was probably the right thing for him to do RIGHT NOW. Who knows what will happen in the next couple of years, maybe he’ll change things up.

Raw-USA network. Impact-Spike TV. No contest. Spike TV is a wrestling, and ratings graveyard. Why do you think WWE left that crappy channel?

i just wrote a long comment and got an error…. im pissed i wont comment a thing right now…..no actually i will, TNA should focus on TNA, not WWE, and most of all they should focus on their young talent such as Samoa Joe, Chris Daniels, Matt Morgan and others, and not on Sting, Hogan, Flair, Nasty “fat azzes” Boys, Hall, Waltan nor Jeff Hardy…..

TNA wants to take down WWE. They think they are the David that will defeat the Goliath. But they do not even have the slingshot or stone to do it. TNA when WCW took on WWE they were owned by Ted Turner, they were a big company. They were not a private LLC company. TNA Just focus on TNA, forget WWE for now. Just focus on growth and quality. If you like giving WWE free publicity than go right ahead. WWE is smart they do not give free publicity to their competitors, That does not mean they are saying TNA doesn’t exist, they just do not give out free publicity. It’s called smart business.

remember when Tony Schiavone said “That’ll put a lot of butts in the seats” about Mankind wining the title… well, that was free publicity, and i think that was the begining of the end for WCW (and the fingerpoke of Doom of course). Anthony is right here, how they expect to win if they keep up the free publicity….

Ever since Hogan came to TNA, I can’t stand to watch it. I loved TNA pre-Hogan. Hogan and Bischoff killed what TNA had going. Before H&B, TNA was heading in the right direction. Now we have to suffer through the Nasty Boys, or should I say the Nasty Geriatrics. Hogan is burying TNA.

I’m sorry to the poster called b but ur post smacks of stupidity and here’s why. You say over the past few years has shown us Vince is a great business man, easy when you have no rivals. Second you say kids are now watching wrestling, they always have u fool, and by saying it was the right thing to do by going pg, yeah in a way ur right as it proves all Vince give a damn about is money. As any 1 over 15 is not going waste money buying the dolls they sell, snack boxs with cena on it etc.So here’s what to do, go get ur cena lunch box and doll and watch ur kiddie show and leave TNA to the grow up’s little boy.

Competition is good, it provides alternatives to viewers, alternatives to wrestlers for work, plus it helps makes a company stronger, since they are motivated to put out a better show.

Everyone loves an underdog, but even underdogs must not rush themselves. Sometimes it is better to have a underdog that doesn’t boast, that way everyone is more surprised when they finally do manage to hold their on against the giant. An underdog that boasts and is not ready to deliver yet, makes himself look bad.

WWE is finally learning to focus on their new talents. That’s why they created NXT. Whether you like the show or not, it’s wise to focus on the new talent.

TNA tries to get ahead of itself. It tries to take giant steps, when they should take smaller steps first.
