Major Heat on a WWE Announcer, Jerry Lawler Update, New Announcer?

- Sources say that Michael Cole has some major heat on him right now from within WWE. The feeling is that he isn’t taking his job seriously anymore and officials aren’t happy with some of his “stupid” comments made on TV lately. They also feel that he is no longer putting the company first.

There may be another shuffling of announcers soon as Jerry Lawler being attacked last night and Matt Striker filling in for him was done so WWE could test the waters to see how the different announcers work together.

Word is that several people who had been trying out for the new WWE announcer spot were contacted this past week and thanked for applying but were told that someone else had been hired.

Matt Striker is the best play by play man they have. J.R. is a legend, and is great to quote, but Striker is gold right now. Cole has been annoying, but I don’t know about him. People hate him too much.

I never saw why JR was considered the best he has alot of stupid slip ups sometimes there was talk at one time booker wanted to commentate I think he could be very good. I don’t watch ECW so I really don’t have a opinion one way or the other on striker

Put JR and King back together as they have chemistry and have Cole and Striker on Smackdown, hes not ready for raw yet. Anyone else remember when the new Raw announce team was meant to Coach and Al Snow?

How the hell can you not see why JR is one of the best? Most stupid teenager marks can’t be freakin’ pleased no matter what and have to be so damn negative about everything. If that’s how you feel, stop watching wrestling. But JR IS one of the best because he knows the history of wrestling, and he puts a lot of emotion into his commentating.
Especially when someone wins a world title. Yeah, he does slip up sometimes but the guy is human. Matt Striker is very good and I’ve liked his work, but he is not equal to JR. He’s fun to listen to, knows his shit inside and out, but he is no JR.

Matt Striker is amazing. He totally deserves the spot on Raw. Cole is an annoying idiot.
Oh by the way, Grisham isn’t so bad either. Him and Stryker in ECW were great.
Let’s get some new faces already, screw The King and Cole.

JR in his prime was BEAST! It must suck for the WWE who spent years building up people to replace JR and the King who have left the company like Tazz, The Coach, Al Snow….
Since Vince doesnt wanna wrestle anymore I say he goes back to commentating! That would be EPIC.

Matt Striker is very good and I like him, but I don’t think Cole is good enough for WWE at all he is terrible. I can’t stand to listen to him at all and I just wish they would let the announcers announce and bring Joey Styles back.

This could be the perfict time to replace JR. As good as he is, he can be replaced. In my opinion that would be the only way people would accept someone taking his place at the announce table.

Michael Cole used to be interesting and very good, and he proved it in ’99 when he stepped in for JR when he got struck with the bells palsy.
If anything, I don’t blame him for making silly comments here and there. He’s given monotony to work with and those comments actually come off as entertaining. They actually being me back to that infamous Byte This! segment. He’s got personality and caustic wit, I’ll give him that.
The material sucks for everybody right now, and it’s obvious that the heat gets put on the performers and not the writers/officials/Vince.

Matt Striker would surpass JR if he is able to continue what he is doing but is also given a “big time main event feel” of a matchup like JR has had through his career. As of yet, Striker has not been able to call a mega event match.

I never thought Cole was that bad, when he teamed with Tazz that was a great annouce team to me, I think they screwed it up when they moved him to raw. I say put cole back over to SD and move someone like JR or Striker over to Raw. Theres something about cole and raw that doesn’t fit to me.

Let’s see Striker shipped back to ECW or maybe a developmental territory. He’s just annoying. Grisham and JR were beginning to mesh together really well, it’s a shame that Ross is in a bad way, but the announce team can seriously do better than Striker. There’s too many uncomfortable pauses and sentences left hanging, as if he’s looking for adjectives in a dictionary or something. Cole is bad, but Striker is worse. JR and Tazz, that’d be a killer combination.

what u kidz forget is that the great announce teams of all time where good vs evil.. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby the brain Heenan..JR and the King…Micheal Cole and tazz..or Micheal Coal and JBL..Weather you like JBL or not…He was a great commentator…WWE should bring back them on raw…That would be great…JBL is GOD….

I have to say I don’t think Michael Cole is THAT bad, but he can get a little bit boring. If they do bring Matt Striker up, I think he deserves it.
Striker is gold. I love how he knows his wrestling inside out, often referring to puroresu and lucha libre for some moves. He also likes to dissect moves and describe whats going on during rest holds, which makes it that much easier to watch. He could be a really good heel announcer, or just keeping him as he is would do it.
