Latest on the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame, Note on WWE PPV Increase

Posted by Marc Middleton on Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

- Since WWE started the pay-per-view price increase with the Royal Rumble in January, they have not suffered any significant hit on pay-per-view buys.

- Because WWE in general wasn’t happy with this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony, they have been working on next year’s event in advance. Names currently being discussed include Bill Goldberg, Ron Simmons, Lex Luger and The Steiner Brothers. Sting is also being talked about but his status with TNA will always play a factor, obviously.

While it probably will never happen, two people in the company brought up Ted Turner’s name this past week. It’s said that Goldberg and Simmons are likely a lock for next year’s class.

so you put in like 5-6 years, have the look, get THE push and that makes you a HOF? they’re running out of names. maybe there should only be like 2-3 each year like baseball or football, it actually makes those halls credible. i’m not taking anything away from anyone in the wwe hall right now though as i think they are deserving (that’s without looking at the complete list as i type)

What about names like Brian Pillman and Hacksaw Jim Duggan? Pillman was the first American to introduce lucha libre style into the mainstream and Duggan has been a part of wrestling for over 25 years, including a stint dealing with cancer.

You know, Goldberg was a huge name. The fact that he didn’t put as much time into the business as others doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to go in. He was a HUGE draw. This isn’t about seniority here, this is about results. Goldberg was the biggest thing in WCW after the nWo watered down the whole company.

    @ Will,

Actually, Bobo Brazil was the first black world heavyweight champion (NWA) but they ran an angle where he refused to take the belt. He won the belt from Buddy Rogers on October 18, 1962 but refused to accept the title due to Rogers claiming he suffered from some sort of “injury”. The belt was given back to Rogers and Brazil’s title reign was not officially recognized by the NWA.

If he’s not still with TNA, maybe Eric Bischoff deserves a spot. Phoenix would have been a good place to since he resides there, but of course the TNA conflict of interest

Why are they leaving out any heavy(fat) wrestlers? I mean Vince hasn’t inducted any of the following One Man Gang, Yokozuna, King Kong Bundy, Abdullah The Butcher, Big Bossman, Big Van Vader, or Bam Bam Bigelow!! Is this a conspiracy??

ya, agree with u GN, LOD! Macho Man, Bruno (but he doesnt want to be in)

But its true, they are gonna run out of people eventually if they induct 6-7 people each year. Mathematically, they will run out of big names.

    @noble geek
If bobo wasnt recognized as champion, then he was never champion!

So The Rock shouldn’t be in the HOF because he left to do something else? People need to get over the fact he left and tried his hand at something else. Yes his movies aren’t great but damn you bad mouth people making a career move for themselves. How would you feel if you put so much work into what you do and decide there is a better way to make a living out there and people hated you? Get over yourselves and move on.

HBK for HOF regardless of what some of you may say about his
work ethic or personality, there’s no denying his credentials
    in the ring.

I can’t believe Koko B Ware is in the HOF. What did he do??? That means Snitsky should be in the HOF. I like next years class so far.

As much as I hate him I think if ron simmons is going in I think…ugh…JBL should go in not next year but sometime soon as well. I think Ron Simmons deserves it better than JBL now though, besides he hasn’t been active in wrestling since the APA broke up. They usually wait a few years after you wrestle to get you to induct you, so HBK wont get in till like maybe wrestlemaina 29 or 30
