JR Blog: CM Punk vs. The Undertaker, Batista’s Announcement on RAW, More

Posted by Marc Middleton on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Jim Ross is back with another blog on jrsbarbq.com. Some of the highlights:

- Anxious to get to Montreal Sunday after attending Saturday night’s OU-Idaho State game. Montreal has a great wrestling heritage & I’m not referring to the ’97 Survivor Series. What “Breaking Point” bout will be the show stealer? Beats me as I write this. The Price is Raw concept was clever but did it overshadow the selling of what is likely to be one of the more unique PPV’s of ’09?

- Has any got any info on whether the Undertaker has ever submitted in his WWE tenure? I can’t recall it. The Anaconda Vice vs the Devil’s Gate seems to be the story in the ‘Taker-Punk title tilt. Yes, I’m familiar with the “Vice.”

- Will Batista announce his retirement Monday in Toronto? I hope not…I think not…but he could. Big Dave has had to battle thru numerous injuries. When is enough..enough?

I don’t think it would be a huge loss if Batista retired. He’s said in the past he doesn’t exactly have “that passion” for the business. I think he saw it as a good way to make money and meet people, not necessarily something he loved to do. As much as the fans seem to love him, I don’t think they miss him that much. As far as I’m concerned, seeing as he misses so much time, now might be the time for him to step aside and let an up-and-coming star take his place.

I think it would be a disappointment if Batista did retire. He hasn’t given us all that he can yet. He could come back and start helping some of the ‘bigger’ young talent get over in this business. By god they need it.

Say what u want about batista and his wrestling skills but the man can draw a crowd and ratings. the modern day ultimate warrior. fans dont care about his wrestling as long as he brings the power and energy to keep a crowd involed

this could be wwe most dangerous pay per view to book. 4 the wrestlers careers i mean. cm punk just won the title. losing it this soon would lose some of the championships prestige and respect for punk, but can u imagine the backlash if taker submits.

There is 2 much ego in the cena orton match. how do u book a finish between the two? neither will ever say i quit so we are probably looking at a knockout finish. regal will beat christian. regal has an actual submission finisher. dx wins like always
