JR Blog: Chairshots Ban, His New WWE Deal, Steve Austin

Posted by Marc Middleton on Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Here are highlights from Jim Ross’ latest blog on jrsbarbq.com:

- Steve continues to train about 5 days a week and is in great shape. Before anyone goes nuts and starts emailing me, ‘NO’ I don’t see Stone Cold ever wrestling again as he is devoting the majority of his waking hours to building his film career and is well on his way to amassing an impressive body of work. ‘Damage’ is a damn good, action adventure, kick your ass film.

- I’ve also I read where I signed a new contract with WWE, I hope to BTW, however that is also wrong as what I signed was a contract extension to take us through the end of April. Re-signing with WWE is my top priority and I hope that we can get another, long term deal done sooner than later.

- Nice to see WWE focus on eliminating chair shots to the heat of their athletes. I blogged about this several weeks ago which I am sure means nothing in regard to this decision being made. Some asked if I thought this mandate was ‘politically motivated’ to which I emphatically say hell, no. It simply makes common sense and the overall health of the competitors has to be any companies utmost priority.

Very true. It looks great on tv, but the human head wasn’t meant to take that kind of beating.

Banning chairshots to the head….Actually does not make sense to me. Since they were trained to make there hands take most of the impact when they get hit with a chair anyway. Lame.

Whatever the reason, it’s about time they made this change, it’s just too much of a risk for a one second shot on video.

These kids above me are the PRIME example of how the WWE pg era will never go away.

They agree with every little thing Vince does, even though its so unfair.

So when everyone gets mad when they start banning certain submission moves and high flying action, you can blame the brainwashed kids of the WWE.

while i do hate this pg era of WWE, i agree to a certain extent that this is a good idea. Any policy that protects the health of the wrestler is a good one. While its not very popular, its the right one.

Look at chris benoit. he is a prime example of what happens in a worse case scenario to a wrestler. he had severe damage to his brain becuz of the WWE not taking health into consideration.

also, a chairshot is cheap heat. Its like a low blow, but more dangerous, cu low blows are fake while chairshot( still fake) but overtime can be dangerous.

Hey Thumper! i aint no kid, ive been watching wwe since 1991, dont blame everything for da PG era, and i dont agree with everything Vince does, i hate Cena, hate the fact that theres no cruiserwheight division, hate to see the IC and US titles being wasted the way they r, hate the barbie dolls that dont wrestle gating spot light, but i do agree on the shairshoots being baned. I dont feel they r necesary, and imo enything that protects the Wrestlers health is good. Don wanna see another Chris Benoit, or Dynamite Kid, or Eddie Guerrero… this is a job for this guys and the helthier they r the longer they will have one…

No one is ordered to take the damn chair shots!! If a performer wishes to use that in his match he should be allowed to!! I mean they Let Jeff Hardy jump seemingly to his death all the time. Also don’t tell me Shelton Benjamin isn’t risking serious injury every time he competes in MITB!!

banning chairshots? You see the change from the old era to the attitude era was a good decision, the attitude to the wwe era, just fine, the wwe to the wwe pg era, BIG MISTAKE

Its all about concussions. The NFL stopped players from helmet to helmet contact. Because its all about the well-being of their players. Its about time that the WWE took the well-being of their people into consideration, rather than allowing these things to go on and then have another Chris Benoit situation to appear again. You dont have to live with these men after they retire and they cant remember what their names are. Think about their families before you say its part of an Era. NEWSFLASH, Thats why its called a era. They come and they go. You dont like it. Go watch TNA. But soon they are just going to be like everyone else.

To be honest, the ban on chairshot to the head is a good idea. A concussion is a serious deal and at anything WWE should at least resricted how many time a wrestler can use moves that involed contact to the head. It for the safety of the wrestlers, not a PG move.

The PG era I think is going to last until Linda not elected or they can build up to a other attiude era like years past. We are reliving wrestling history folks.
