John Morrison Says He Didn’t Know He Was In The Rumble, Talks About Sheamus

Posted by W-E on Friday, January 29th, 2010

– In an interview with SLAM! Wrestling, WWE star John Morrison says that he didn’t know he was not advertised for the Royal Rumble match, saying, “Holy crap,” Morrison said. This whole time I thought I was. I’m sure I’ll be in there.”

In terms of climbing to main-event status, Morrison said, “I think my path has been a slow rise, I think a lot of people rise too quickly and they find out when they get there — I think Sheamus is going to find out — that they haven’t really earned the respect of the WWE Universe or the locker room, and they’re going to end up falling flat, falling back down the card and either walk back up to the top or just fall right down and stay down.”

Boy, I mean i don’t get how people think Morrison’s asscent has been a slow one. Go look at how long it took guys like Hart, Michaels and even Austin to climb the ranks.. And those were bonafide stars.

Hell, I wish it was more like those days… Where guys started out in tag teams and worked their way up.. or at the least were ic title guys.

Yeah if only they pushed the tag team division that might happen but saddly I doubt it.

The headline of this story is incorrect, Morrison thought he was in the Royal Rumble but didn’t know he wasn’t being advertised for it. For all we know he might not even be in it, which would make the headline even more inaccurate.

gosh, was that comment about sheamus a shoot, or kayfabe? and he may very well be right about sheamus. its not even like umaga(rip), who got built over the course of a year, and started out by destroying guys in the mid card for 4 or 5 months. this guy was champion within 2 months of debuting on raw.

    @ Nottingham…

How can you say that his rise has been anything but slow? Let compare it…compare the rise of Morrison to former greats who busted their ass’s for years in a greater environment…Morrison’s rise comes in a time where the rosters are smaller and the mainevent scene is exposed with two world titles and a third insignificant brand.

But regardless morrison has been built slowly…he comes in with the papparazzi gimmick in MNM…wins 2 tag titles, then moves on with his managed melina to win several IC titles, moves to ECW for a win of their title, and changes his gimmick, then forms one of the best tag teams in recent history with miz and wins the tag titles 2 more times….then wins the IC after being drafter to smackdown and turned face….with i believe one world heavy weight title shot in their over the summer in an amazin match against jeff hardy….so you cannot tell me NOTTINGHAM that john morrison has had a too fast of a rise to the top…considering he isnt even near the top yet…he’s still feuding for the IC title atm!

i dont get how you think morrison has had a slow push notingham. he has been in 2 successful tag teams and has been in the intercontinental title picture for awhile. not to mention ECW title picture. it’s about time he got pushed to main event status. he deserves it more than anyone else in my opinion

i agree with you my friend. If there is one person in the WWE who needs a good push its Morrison. Sheamus is just another Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley in my opinion. And also what Morrison said in that interview, he will fall back down to the bottom right on his face.

Sheamuas is a no body. its stupid how they make him undefeated in raw but he got beat in ECW. hes not even a huge dude that would make since to go along with it. when i first heard he was fighting John Cena on paper veiw it made me not want to watch it cuz i dont want to pay to see a match with someone who isnt that famous wrestle Cena. and John morrison does need to be a main eventer

Morrison is the future of the WWE and they better make damn sure they both keep him happy and healthy. Morrison is one of those rare wild cards where you can stick him in any type of match and he shines through it.

Morrison is dam right! Sheamus..i mean who in the blue hell is SHEAMUS ?!?! He’s maybe a young talented Wrestler BUT come on, Legends like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock gone step by step to the top to became World Champ. SHeamus a nobody comes to RAW and a little time later he got the Title ??? Is the Creative Team of WWE lost their mind? Want they kill this Division to like the ,,Cruiseweight, Hardcore, Tag Team Division” ?? Back at the time from the 90′s till 2002 The World Title was somethin special that changed hands after a long time. And now nobodys like Sheamus came and won the title after 1 month on RAW. I mean hes maybe good but he never deserved to be a wwe champ. 1st he must earn respect and 2nd he can win what ever he wants

    WOW!!!!!! John Morrison has ba11$!!!!!!!

He’s the brightest young star the company has, and should right be pushed strongly into main events and a world title run this year.
He’s rising the same way Edge did, and when he becomes champion, fans will have no reason to resent him.

Morrison also has another ace in his back pocket….while Shaemus is HHH’s buddy, Morrison is close friends with the untouchable power-player Randy Orton and also Rey Mysterio.

“Sheamus is just another Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley in my opinion.”

RKOmonster – that is probably the dumbest comment I’ve ever had the misfortune to read on this site. Lesnar evolved into a five star performer in a ridiculously quick amount of time – and when he left the business, it lost one its best and brightest performerers.

To liken him to Sheamus and Lashley is nonsensical to the max – its like comparing Rob Schneider to Robert De Niro.

I’ve always been a fan of John Morrison. That man has talent!! And I can’t agree with him more. Who the hell is Sheamus and where did he come from?? Morrison has been going at it for years, winning tag titles and whatnot, but now he’s constantly losing to that worthless Drew 19 Stones bastard, while Sheamus wins the WWE title after what….4 matches?? He loses to Goldust in ECW, then comes to RAW and defeats Cena no questions asked. How?? They’ve made Cena appear damn near unstoppable, and he loses to a man who got beat by Goldust?? Gold fuckin dust?!?!?

Morrison is on his way to WWE gold I hope. I feel like he deserves it, and has definitely worked for it.

I’m a huge Morrison fan, I think the only thing he needs to be a top guy is to go back to being a heel, his face persona isn’t as compelling because he basically does the same thing except without the attitude. I think if they pushed him as the same sort of character Shawn Michaels was years ago, the guy who knows he’s that damn good, he’ll finally be ready, or at least as ready as you can be. That being said, them jobbing him out to another of The Nose’s pet projects isn’t helping anyone. It takes away from Morrison and makes McIntyre look bad because he was no one before he won the belt, and now he’s no one with the belt. It’s not getting him over.
