Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk at WrestleMania?

Posted by Marc Middleton on Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Source: F4Wonline.com

- WWE officials have wanted Jeff Hardy to face CM Punk at this year’s WrestleMania 26 pay-per-view from Arizona.

When Hardy left WWE last year, the impression was given that he would return for a match with Punk at WrestleMania. While nothing has been set in stone yet, WWE officials are hoping Hardy will return to start the build for the match.

One issue surrounding Hardy’s return would be his pending criminal charges from his arrest last year and how it might affect Linda McMahon’s political career.

I’m curious, would this just be a one time match or would Hardy be returning full time? And regarding Linda, they have to get over comparing what she does politically to what goes on in WWE. I’m sorry, but maybe she just needs to completely remove herself from WWE (if she hasn’t already). While not entirely, I know her political campaign has a lot to do with WWE’s kid friendly approach. I still say they should allow Smackdown and ECW (or whatever they’re going to call it) be more family friendly, but let Raw be just that…. RAW. Put it on somewhat later and give it a more mature rating. If parents dislike their children watching that, then they can watch Smackdown. But I digress…..

I’m really over WWE basing their decisions about what not to do on Linda McMahon’s political career.

I’d love to see this match happen, but I’m skeptical due to Jeff’s drug arrest. And to anyone who has a problem with people holding Jeff accountable for his drug use, you really need to wake up. You make your bed, sometimes you’re forced to lie in it. You’re not allowed to do illegal things and then get off scot free if you get caught, it’s what happens. You don’t want the trouble, don’t do the drugs. How sad that this is beyond rational understanding.

    In response to “Not Me”.
The mojority of people who take the piss out of Jeff has nothing to do with drugs.
It’s because he’s a talentless loser. He can’t do anything but jump off shit and he fucks that up half the time.
Quite simply any fool that looks at Jeff Hardy and sees anything other than a charismatic stuntman should start watching something else bacause I’ve met dead kippers that know more about wrestling than you.

If you think Jeff is a “talentless loser” then you definetly need to stop watching wrestling. I know you probably started watching wrestling around 2005 so I’ll forgive you for those beyond idiotic remarks. Its clear that your a kid from that clueless outburst so I’ll suggest you go to youtube and watch his matches with the following:

    Rob Van Dam
    Chris Jericho
    Triple H
    Edge

Just to name a few. Go watch those kid or like I said…grow some balls.

Jeff Hardy vs Cm Punk? vs the CM Punk that losed against John Cena in 3-5 minutes..? No Way! CM Punk was on the right Way, but the creative Team of WWE did the same thing that they always did, they build his character very good but after all this good things look where CM Punk is now!…Shame on WWE ! Kick Batista out from SmackDown!

Actually kids, it would be nice to see CM Punk, a hard working wrestler who has fought and scratched to get what where he is right now throughout his career in the indies till now, to kick in the face of Jeff Hardy, who got lucky riding the shoulders of his brother Matt to the WWE, and had all the chances in the world given to him, but he’s f***ed up not once but TWICE. He’s a hopeless drug addict, who has repeatedly refused to go to rehab, even though WWE would pay for it, and he got caught, RIGHT after being their world champion, with a HUGE VARIETY of drugs in his house, including cocaine, and he’s being charged with selling all sorts of pain pills. That’s not minor, that’s a major offense, and it would have to be SOME police conspiracy against Jeff for it to all be some sort of “set up”. Please.

The guy is a douchebag. I don’t hate him, but he is. Matt has worked WAY harder than Jeff his entire career, has had more roadblocks in his way than Jeff, hasn’t had things handed to him (like the WWE title), like Jeff has. He’s the one of the two of them that actually deserved to be pushed as World Champ. He’s the one who actually has respectable technical wrestling ability, not just a handful of the same old “high flying” daredevil moves that make people go “oooooh”, and he’s the one who HASN’T f***ed up his career, p*ssing away all the money and opportunity WWE has given him, on drugs and not just being “into it”.

Jeff is probably the biggest spaz in the wrestling business, this side of Ultimate Warrior. Again, I don’t hate Jeff, but you’ve got to be pretty damn stupid to do the things he’s done.

If you’re that sad, that you want to see CM Punk’s “face kicked in”, because you’re a little kid or an immature mark who actually believes these stupid storylines are real, maybe Punk isn’t the one who needs an a$$kicking, if you catch my drift. Punk is a stand up guy, by all accounts, he’s worked his a$$ off to EARN what he has in the wrestling business, and obviously he doesn’t pander to or kiss people like HHH and Stephanie McMahon’s a$$es to get it. And he actually lives his “gimmick”, he really is “straight edge”, and if it bothers people SO MUCH that his WRESTLING PROMOS call people out on their drug, alchohol and pill addictions…..well then what does that tell you? It wouldn’t bother you if it wasn’t true.

And personally, I think it’s really sick of the WWE to have a character like Punk, that little kids should be able to LOOK UP TO, a character who makes it WITHOUT kissing a$$, WITHOUT steroids, WITHOUT doing drugs or drinking his career away, telling them NOT to smoke or smoke weed or drink…..aren’t those values you WANT your kids to have, especially with this “PG” mess that WWE is trying to push? Nope. Instead, they have fans, even little kids, BOOING a character telling them not to do drugs, smoke cigarettes or drink, and having them CHEER guys who OPENLY do drugs, drink, and whatever else. Yeah…that sure is a long way from the PG-ness of Hogan and his “Drink your milk and take your vitamins” bit.

I’m sorry, but CM Punk is awesome. Matt Hardy is awesome. Jeff Hardy? Is a tool who couldn’t even take the “Second chance” he was given, giving him the ONE thing his brother has always strived for, the WWE Championship. Nope. He had to p*ss that all away too, even after he lost his house and dog to a fire. Even after he said he’s really “turned his life around”. Please. I’d rather see CM Punk have a WM match with someone who DESERVES it, like Matt Hardy, R-Truth, WHOEVER. Not “Charismatic Drug Addict” Jeff Hardy.

I hate to say this.. but jeff was brought into WWE before matt was.. so he didn’t “ride matt’s success”.. it was the other way around.. but the simple fact of the matter is this.. both of the hardys worked hard to make it in the business.. jeff just has other interests as well. No-one got pissed at cena for taking time off to make movies and albums… no one got pissed off at HHH for doing that, either.. sometimes, people want to have a chance to do other things. it’s life. get over it.

    @ Keith Learmonth

Okay dude…to get nerdy for a moment, if you REALLY want to go there, Matt Hardy was first used as a jobber on WWF television May 23rd 1994. Jeff Hardy wrestled the very next day, May 24th 1994. So sorry, but even on the most technical level, you’re wrong.

But what I actually MEANT, was that Jeff road Matt’s drive, ambition, desire, and love for the business. Ever hear of OMEGA? That was the tiny indy wrestling promotion that MATT started and ran. He taught himself how to wrestle, and then trained Jeff, along with others like Shannon Moore and Gregory Helms. OMEGA helped launch the careers of other wrestlers like Steve Corino, Lita, Joey Mercury, C.W. Anderson, etc.

It was Matt who got the brothers set on the path of being pro wrestlers. It was Matt who personally sewed their outfits (and all of the OMEGA wrestlers outfits in fact), it was Matt personally getting them booked, it was Matt who made and sent in tapes to WCW and WWF. It was Matt who got them even jobber appearances in the WWF, and Matt who got them into the Funkin’ Dojo to get further training. Yes, Jeff was there with him the whole time, but Matt was the one organizing and driving the whole operation. It was Matt who kept Jeff focused, and was the “captain” of “Team Extreme” even behind the scenes. Matt is the one who has always had more passion, Jeff has even said that himself. Jeff got the bigger solo opportunities simply based on the fact that he does crazy Mick Foley style stunts, that made him popular with the fans. Matt is and always has been the more capable WRESTLER of the two. I don’t think Jeff would dispute that fact either. And as I said, while Jeff has been given opportunity after opportunity, and chance after chance, Matt has had to struggle to overcome injuries, and to simply maintain a roster spot. He’s worked his ass off constantly to be where he is, and yet Jeff, who goofs off, shows up to shows LATE constantly, and repeatedly breaks the WWE’s substance abuse policy, while refusing to get treatment, he’s the one who gets the WWE Championship.

But regardless, what does any of that have to do with the fact that Jeff Hardy has continually proven that he really doesn’t deserve everything he’s gotten, because he continually keeps p*ssing it all away getting high, doing God only knows what else, and now getting caught by the police with a S**TLOAD of drugs in his house? That can’t be disputed. It happened. It’s on record. The guy is a spaz, sorry to break it to you. Being caught selling TONS of prescription pills, AND having cocaine in your home? That’s not the actions of someone who has “other interests”. Please. That’s the actions of a guy who needs serious help.

Like I said before, I DON’T hate Jeff. I like Jeff. I’ve always supported Jeff, even when he got fired the first time, and went to TNA, I said “well good for him”. I even checked out his cr*ppy music side project. But I’m sorry dude, I’m done supporting him, because the guy just doesn’t show that he deserves it. He does all this stupid s**t, and then acts like he just doesn’t care. So YEAH, I think Matt is more deserving of FAR more than he’s gotten. And YEAH, CM Punk is a bad ass guy, AND wrestler, and he deserves the spot he’s in. This has nothing at all to do with Jeff having “other interests” beside wrestling. Most of these guys do, that’s an irrelevant point. What IS relevant, is that WWE shouldn’t give this guy another chance, when he’s repeatedly broken their drug use rules, AND abused their trust in him as a top star, AND now he’s got these heavy drug charges. That’s not the guy you give a high profile Wrestlemania match to. Sorry.

I highly doubt there is any truth to this one. Unfortunately I don’t see WWE touching Jeff for a good long while due to the above mentioned issues. He’s very high risk. Of course he could dodge the bullet with this recent screw up but that will take time and Wrestlemania isn’t so far away

Thank you. At least someone recognizes his talent. He needs to start using the Anaconda Vice again on a more permanent basis, but otherwise, he’s been awesome from day one.

It’s funny that “smart” wrestling fans loved him when he was on the indy scene, and with ROH. But now that he’s a former World Champion in WWE, suddenly all I see are negative comments about the guy. Like I said before, Punk is the one TOP guy besides Taker right now that is where he’s at WITHOUT kissing HHH’s a$$.

I love Punk, I think he’s the most compelling new guy the company has signed since Kurt Angle. I realize he’s not really new, as he’s been around for years, but he’s become one of my top 5 favorites to watch. I don’t understand why people make asinine comments about him being only a transitional champion, this is a guy who pretty obviously carried the top feud on Smackdown for the whole summer, as Jeff just can’t cut a good promo to save his life. Plus he’s one of the most dependable guys on the roster, as he’s not going to get suspended for drug or steroid use and isn’t likely to tear muscles every five minutes because he’s on the gas like a lot of guys.

I like Jeff, and I love Punk, and I think their feud was one of the best in years, and would love to see them go again, although I tend to doubt this will happen until Jeff’s legal troubles are resolved.

Punk is a good wrestler, and he’s put in his dues. There’s no questioning that. But let’s face it, that alone doesn’t get you to the top. I’m not talking about kissing ass, or carrying someone’s bags, I’m talking about charisma. Presence. That intangible quality that gets people out of their seats and stomping their feet and whatnot. Punk is an excellent wrestler, and he’s a decent performer. And that’s about it. Jeff Hardy, on the other hand, has charisma. He has the ability to get people chanting and really give a rat’s ass about his matches. He may have ridden his brother’s coattails, and Vince & co. could have put him on top, but there’s no way he would’ve stayed there without being a first-rate performer. It just doesn’t work. We’ve seen what happens when some new guy is brought in and put on top, beating the Undertaker down week after week and made to look unstoppable. Without the charisma to get people to care one way or another, those same people lose interest. Don’t get me wrong, I like watching Punk in and out of the ring, although his current self-righteous schtick is already old, but he doesn’t have the same ability to dazzle as Jeff Hardy.

Oh, and Devil_Rising… lighten up, homeskillet. It’s a silly rumor story. Off the soapbox with you.

Punk doesn’t have charisma, but Hardy does? Hardy may be the more exciting performer, but it’s easy to be exciting when you do stuff all the time that you might not live through. Watch the videos of the two of them in the ring cutting promos on each other, and watch how Jeff can’t even cut a convincing promo when he’s talking about his own real life.

They both have strong points, and I’m not attacking you, but their feud wouldn’t have lasted a month if Punk hadn’t been able to get the audience to hate him and love Hardy as a result. The majority of the non-in ring action between them was Punk talking while Hardy made a squinty sort of angry expression.

I’ve been a Jeff Hardy fan & a CM Punk fan from day 1. CM Punk is a amazingly talently gifted wrestler, with a great real life gimmick and charisma. His feud with Jeff was one of the best feuds of all time. As for Jeff, you say he rode Matt’s tail, he was handed everything. He was given oppurtunities for titles as he had the fan behind him & if he became WWE champion, their ratings would sore. Even Jeff’s admitted he’s just some guy who jumps off ladders, but who else in the WWE has that much balls to do it? In TNA he jumped off a 6 sides of Steel through a barbed wire table! Who else in WWE woul do that? He climbed 60ft to swanton bomb Randy Orton to please the WWE fans, not to criticize him when he does somthing wrong. He may not be perfect but he’s a great performer and i’d welcome him back to WWE. WWE need somebody like Jeff to scare off the little kiddies. Even DX are lame now.

Oh & Christian C. Edge will win the Royal Rumble & if not him then Ted Dibiase. Jeff will save Matt From Punk & Gallows at Elimination Chamber.
