Drama with the WWE Divas, WWE Unifying All Titles Soon?

Posted by Marc Middleton on Monday, August 30th, 2010

- WWE officials were upset with some of the Divas after the recent tour in California, which resulted in the suspension of Tiffany and the release of Serena. Word is that there was “too much drama.”

- As noted before, WWE will be holding a Unification match for the Divas and Women’s Titles at Night of Champions. The talk Monday was that WWE is planning to unify all the titles in the next year and have one World Title, one Tag Team Title, one Intercontinental/US Title and one Women’s Title. The idea would be to do the WWE and World Title Unification match at WrestleMania 27.

What the? so does this mean that their wont be anymore Raw & Smackdown wrestlers oon each show and the all the wrestlers will now show up on both shows like before… or does the Champion have to defend it on both brands now like the Tag Team unified championships…?

…a move like this, if it were to happen would enable the WWE to focus solely on it’s premier stars as they could show up on both brands. Sadly, this could assist in the burial of up and coming stars as they won’t be able to compete with the elite.

On the plus side, there will be more competition for the larger belts and with just one championship for each division, it could help build feuds leading into a PPV.

I hope this means that titles will be defended more regularly, no more of this Miz going months without a title defense crap. Between both rosters, there will always be different superstars to challenge for a title.

Actually, it wont change a whole lot at all in my opinion. Four titles overall, at least, means two title per show. if you want to contend for one title you can jump ship and switch shows. I dont know, just a thought.

depending on how wwe handles this, unifying the titles could either be a great smart choice or it could ruin them.

Why are people acting like this has never happened before and that its a bad idea. Simple fact is, the brand extension and 2 of each title is the worst thing WWE ever did, and for the bulk of its history there was only one of each title.

The only thing I would say is that the IC and US title should probably stay seperate as there has nearly always been at least two mid card belts (the IC, European, Cruiser{light heavyweight} and Hardcore all existed together at one point).

While I am not one for living in the past like TNA seem to be, but getting back to the core titles rather than diluting them is a better idea.
With less titles, it should hopefully mean they start rebuilding up the tag division as well.

One world title is dumb. They can unifiy the rest but one world title screws up the the mid card and lowers superstars. Also WWE is mad the “Divas” are causing too much drama lol that’s ironic.

Here we go again. The have unified their titles many times. The concept isn’t exciting anymore. If you pay attention you know that in the next couple years they will re-introduce one if not all of the titles they are eliminating. The creative juices have died.

there trying to bring back stuff that died along time ago while creating a new product, yes there will be more main eventers for the world title but thts the only competitive championships they dont make mathes for the IC, US, Divas, Womans or tag- team ones anymore they should bring back the cruiserweight

They shoul keep the IC and US titles, no need to unify those. The rest, i think it could be good, as many has said, more defends and maybe that could bring some prestige back to the IC and US belts…. i got a doubt though…. what hapens to re historial of the belts that would disapear?….

The WWE should leave all the titles alone and focus on coming up with some better storylines. At this rate, the WWE is losing its fans that have grow up with this company for many, many, many years. There catering 2 much 2 superstars who make them the huge amounts of money each, and every time they come out to the ring and talk too damn much to the audicence……(John Cena)!!!! I am slowly losing interest each week with this company. The Housewives Series on Bravo is more entertaining then this S.H.I.T !!!!!!

If man only knew how to build a time machine!!!!!!!!
ATTITUDE ERA WILL RETURN, NOT RIGHT NOW
BUT IT WILL RETURN WATCH AND SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they were to do a World Title unification at WM, then what would they do with the winner of the Royal Rumble? It would be stupid to have 1 of the world champs win that match to set it up!

And stop having someone win a championship shot in a match to only have them put that shot on the line at the next PPV. So stupid!

@Paul123: Yes, that’s really possible since they always F up talented women wrestlers. But this has got me really wondering if she has really been signed or not. 4 months and no mention of her or any FCW appearances. For an international star it would be understandable but for a local star?

Regarding title unifications. Its okay for the 2 womens titles because of the lack of talent depth but for the others its crazy. Think about it this way: after the purchase of WCW and ECW and the whole Alliance angle, WWE’s roster became too big for one show. Hence the whole brand split. Allowing each show to have its own world title, midcard (US & IC), special (Womens & Cruiser) and tag team championship would give each brand’s superstars something to fight over. And then every year there’s a draft to rearrange the rosters and refreshen the wrestling scene. Unifying titles doesn’t necessarily mean that it will bring more competition and prestige to a title. How many stars would feud for the main world title? There are about 10 bonafide main eventers and several upper midcarders = Clusterf*ck. Same for the midcard. Only the tagteam and womens would be refreshed (also if they add an x-division like title). The best solution would be cut at least 1/4 or 1/2 of the roster.

Also unifying doesn’t necessarily work. Just look at the current WWE tag team titles. It was formed after unifying 2 lackluster tag divs yet it barely has any prestige or competition to it. How many times has the Hart Dynasty defended it since winning it, once or twice?

The main thing that WWE’s creative team should focus on is pushing more superstars, both as single wrestlers and tag teams. Divas should be pushed as well. The more the superstars are pushed, the more competiton there would be for the titles and there would be less of a need to unify titles.

If they have to unify the titles to focus on the, that’s pretty sad. There’s no reason they can’t have interesting match ups and feuds with each title as it is. They simply don’t care enough to do so. If they unify, they’re basically admitting their incompetence and there’s not guarantee that they’ll get it right with just one set of titles, anyway. So frustrating.

That unifying titles mess failed. Yeah Triple H beat all the singles champs to merge the belts. Then came that brand extension mess. As most have stared there needs to be better storylines. Miz needs to loss the US title. Kori should have never lost the IC belt. Cryme Tyme should have been Tag Champs long ago. I thought the focus was to develop other stars. Sheamus needs to drop the World title. Kane will lose his belt to the Undertaker. Ted Dibiase should have won Money in the Bank not Miz. It is real funny how the WWE tells us not to email storyline suggestions. When we all could do a better job then fheur creative staff!!! Email me at kevinr1@yahoo.com

Unify the titles but please bring back a cruiserweight title and division. It could really adda major kick to the shows and the people are present to do this. Matches with Danial Bryan, Kaval, Kofi, JTG, Bourne, Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel. I mean who wouldnt want to see these matches? Bourne and Kofi are huge fan (and for vinces sake little kid) favorites. Gabriel would make a great lead heel. Lets have these matches and this belt and stop just using these guys as squash for the fat boys of wrestling

Maybe I’m the only one that remembers this but when the whole brand split started there was only one main title. Think of it this way at a ppv like fatal 4way there would be the champ and 3 superstars that possibly arent on the same show. Having a mixed brand main event or title defenses could liven up having the same feuds ppv after ppv.
Bragging Rights would become a better ppv since they could play up the “balance of power” of the shows.
MITB could be a even bigger win for some up and coming superstar if theres only one belt. Maybe if they do add a cruiserweight/X division belt that could be the other MITB match to start of the show.
Once this whole nexus thing ends, whenever that may be, it could be that Raw vs Smackdown mentality and liven up fueds and the entire title picture for the wwe.

i can see this as a setup to the pending acquisition of TNA Wrestling when Panda Energy says “F*** it” and sell it off. can’t have three women’s championship, three tag team championship, three world championship, three mid-card titles (IC, US Champion, TNA TV Champion).

or WWE may just do away with the “Brand Extension” and go back to being one brand with three shows. just like before 2002.

i cant understand them doing this then the ppvs will have only 3 title matches thats like an hour but really i dont get the point of this this means that one show will have a champion that would make the other show extremly boring i dont see them doing this it seems extremly stupid even for them if anything they could unify the womens championship and but what will all the divas on the other show be fueding for this is why they bought the title to smackdown in the first place but they should bring back the cruiserweight title though

Its understandable to unify the Women’s titles and Tag belts cause those division suck They could push a lot more people though with 2 World titles and U.S/I.C title. If they do choose to unify all the belts, they should just end the brand extention and have 1 roster. It would be a better decision.

People see that if they unify all titles HALF of the roster would do nothing but have meaningless feuds. Here’s a breakdown

    Unified World Title (10 wrestlers) = clusterf*ck

Unified Midcard Title (about 28 or so wrestlers, upper midcarders, true midcarders, and jobbers/lower midcardarders) = clusterf*ck

only the tag team div and womens div wud benefit.
see if they go back to the 1 roster format and even a 2 roster format with 1 set of titles then half would do nothing or would be future endeavored

Wow first the pg era now this I remember back in the day the IC title and US title use to mean something it was like if u were the IC champ u were considered the no 1 contender for the world title i remember them doing that with the warrior vs hogan and so of the great IC matches like MR PERFECT and the HONKY TONK MAN. The mid card titles were used to push u into a main event spot not this we will give a belt just to hold on to because it doesnt mean anything and it might get u over which is untrue to REAL wrestling fans and not the kids they have 2 shows and we know the only show that would have title matches at ppvs would be raw because of cena hhh and others that will remain there after the smackdown move next month. So is this a good idea yes for the women because there are not that many of them in the divas division. For the other titles no it is not it will bury risinng stars and give us the same matches over and over and over cena vs ????

I dont know why but I feel that the prestige that comes from uniting titles (especially world/wwe) is gone. If I were to see the titles get united now I wouldn’t get excited as I did when Y2J became the first undisputed champion or when Kurt became the Euro continental champion.
