Cody Rhodes Speaks on Legacy, Going to SmackDown and More

- Slam Wrestling conducted an interview with Cody Rhodes this weekend. Here are some of the highlights:

Cody on being a second generation star: “(Being a second-generation wrestler) can be incredibly easy or incredibly difficult. I didn’t want to be my dad. I don’t want to be Dusty Rhodes Jr. I want to be Cody Rhodes.”

Cody on going to SmackDown: “RAW was more of a variety show. Smackdown is more of a wrestling-based show. That’s my area. It gives me a chance to showcase myself. I feel I’ll do really well between the ropes. I think things are going to be changing for me along with the brand change. As a fan, I like to see the talent evolve and I need to evolve. I really wasn’t a character on RAW. It was ‘here we have our second- and third-generation superstars.’ Now, fans will have the opportunity to see who Cody Rhodes is.”

Cody on Legacy: “The point was to introduce us, as The Legacy, the same as when Randy Orton and Batista were brought in with Evolution. I don’t think it’d be totally bizarre if three, five or seven years down the road from now, you saw a Wrestlemania match with me and on the other side, Ted DiBiase.”

    i think he can….for a long time i didn’t like randy orton…when he was ic champ he defended the title like 3 times in 8 months…that is bs…then he won the world title..wtf…now he is a establish star and going to pass john cena as the face of wwe…ty rko…

    @scooter – agree wholeheartedly (hence, the “i hate black wrestlers” mark and the cena troll being able to run wild for days).

    i think, if creative does its job, cody will have a stellar career, but he’s gotta be marketed correctly, and smackdown’s the place it’ll happen.

    Cody has more of that under-dog look because of his size. I liked him as a face when he came out.

    I could see him having a match against Dibiase in the future with rhodes being the face.

    WWE was smart to keep Dibiase a heel. Like his father before him, he’s good at it.

    Nah mate its rans by dictators, posted a comment in the story titled Luke Gallows’ Mystery Partner, now to me that title indicates he was going to reveal who it was and when I question marc middleton in my reply, low and behold my comment has magical disappeared.

    Its not bitching, but if it was a case of spamming threaten, that be a different story, but whats the point in having a comment section if you wont allow comments through unless they agree with the mods point of view ?

    Well cody will get better with time but probably wont be like Orton or Batista. Even cody agreed raw was not a wrestling show as much as it used to be.

    I think Cody has the potential to be a great superstar in the wwe not only because of the second generation thing but because ochoa wrestling skills he’s a nice wrestler but if he gets a bigger frame and mic skills and a good push he can go the whole nine yards and more
