Breaking News: WWE Releases a SmackDown Superstar This Afternoon

Posted by Marc Middleton on Saturday, August 8th, 2009

- WWE announced the following on their website this afternoon:

WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Ricky Ortiz as of today, Aug. 8, 2009. We wish Ricky the best in all future endeavors.

It’s unusual that WWE announced a release on a Saturday afternoon. Ortiz was not at the WWE Supershow last night and was last seen losing to The Great Khali in a squash on SmackDown this past Friday night.

I think this was similar to Kendrick’s situation. I have a feeling Mr. Ortiz was on that list of wrestler’s who continuously failed marijuana tests (this is just speculation on my part, FYI). This may be another message to the rest of the locker room that they are serious about their drug policy.

I looked at the link and laughed, who now?!?. But lost time out of my life by reading about a shitty wrestler being released. Oh well life goes on and we won’t lose sleep over that.

U know, these wrestlers DO serve a great purpose if the damn stupid writers actually knew about the psychology behind professional wrestling and what made guys like Hogan, Taker, etc. become ‘over.’ And that is beating JOBBERS in dominating fashion to get the crowd behind them while the announcers do their best to make the wrestler even more over with how they “dominate.”

It is a great way to get someone to dominate and win a match to gain a small push in the beginning when it is during a time when it is illogical to have them face someone that is high on the card already when they themselves are being pushed (Morrison)

But of course, this is the new generation where fans are lacking in that department of understanding the concept of these wrestlers.

There is a reason why Brooklyn Brawler is the most celebrated Jobber in the history of pro wrestling. It wasn’t about him being “horrible” and “complete suckage” but it was about how good he was in making an upcomer get pushed to the next level in order to get the fans to start rallying up behind a “future” superstar.

Remember, Austin as the Ringmaster was losing matches to Savio Vega and everyone BOUGHT it. Why do you suppose that is?

He looked like a beefier Shiek Abdul Basheer anyway. Maybe he will go to TNA and he will be his long lost brother or some crap.

Yep that goodness Ortiz is gone. His character and sense of being on WWE was all wrong. Mike Knox would be a GREAT heel if only the writers would use him properly. I think Z.Jackson and V.Koslov would make a great tag team to face Jericho and Big Show. They are both two big potential stars for the future. And would they ever use Mark Henry to some good use while he is still around.

The writers should all be thrown out and made bring back the ones from the attitude era. The promos, the lead up to PPV’S and the wrestling matches were all so much better back then than they are now. Or writers that have the creativity because as of right now, they all SUCK!!!!

    Sorry, rant over lol

all this means is that some guy with more wrestlers will turn into jobbers to fill Ortiz place and he will be released. Such as R-Truth, Kane, Ziggler. Like or it nor, guys like Ortiz are needed, especially in a McMahon company

lol, yea lets just get rid of those shit eaters DAVIS and so there will not be any other wrestlers for others to face and just face the same people over and over like they continually do now where apparently YOU all bash about of wrestlers facing each other over and over. Well why should u bash that when you are clearly voting for it by getting rid of people that are not “up to” your expectations.
