Backstage News on Tonight’s Breaking Point, Punk vs. Taker and Miz vs. Kofi

- As noted earlier, the original plan for The Undertaker vs. CM Punk at tonight’s Breaking Point called for a Taker victory. There has since been an internal movement in favor of giving Punk the victory, but as of press time, the idea of a clean submission win for Punk was not believed to be under serious consideration.

- Regarding WWE’s decision to replace John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler with Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz on the WWE Breaking Point card, Dave Meltzer reports that the decision was “finish related, in that they couldn’t come up with one.”

WWE views both Morrison and Ziggler as having legitimate breakout potential, and the company presumably wanted to further develop the rivalry so as to assure that when the match does take place on pay-per-view (likely at Hell in a Cell), the finish does not greatly impact the loser’s overness. Clear evidence of how late the decision on adding Kingston vs. Miz was made is the fact that a possible match between the two was not even hinted on Monday’s RAW.

Miz will win to build up his character. I really can’t see Undertaker tapping out to Punk. He’s good but nothing great, so far.

I can’t see Taker tapping either, but I could see chair shot from Punk, Anaconda Vise, and Taker passing out. That could get Punk over as a monster heel and I don’t think there are DQs in Submission Matches.

I hope kofi loses the title. kofi is my favorite wrestler but that us title is doing nuthn 4 him. sure he has won several triple threat and fatal for matches but its time 2 move on 2 bigger things. the fans love kofi. could be a great time 4 wwe to push

I cant see taker tapping either, giving punk a clean win, highly unlikely, I would rather see dolph and morrison over kofi and miz

I see ‘Taker getting the submission win with the Hell’s Gate. But, instead of Punk tapping out, he just passes out in the move and ‘Taker wins the title. The next Smackdown, Undertaker gets stripped of the title because Punk claims he PASSED OUT, and didn’t tap out. Since it’s a submission match, you can only win by tap out, NOT passing out.

I can see Teddy Long-Undertaker situation like vince and bret hart circa survivor series 1997. they are in montreal and vince implied to teddy he better do someting special. punk keeps title taker doesnt lose clean. punk puts taker in vice teddy rings the bell

Man, I hope it doesn’t play out like that. You’d think they’d learn their lesson about GM’s getting involved with feuds after that whole Vickie moo-cow fiasco. Punk shouldn’t go over Taker. He hasn’t shown enough submissions stuff to make Taker tap out.
