Reason For Tonight’s “iMPACT!” Preemption, Jeff Jarrett’s Marriage To Kurt Angle’s Ex-Wife, More

TNA iMPACT! is being preempted tonight as Spike TV is airing episodes of Gangland during the program’s regular time slot. While Spike nor TNA Wrestling has acknowledged the reason for the preemption, it is said that network officials made the decision to not air iMPACT! this week because they felt it would be hammered in the ratings by the NFL season opener between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints.

TNA Wrestling will instead present the Bound For Glory Kickoff Show on the company’s official website, TNAWrestling.com. Hosted by Jeremy Borash, the webcast will feature a Q & A session with TNA President Dixie Carter where she will answer questions form the fans.

– As noted earlier, Jeff Jarrett recently tied the knot with Kurt Angle’s ex-wife, Karen Smedley. The couple were married on August 21 at a small ceremony that few people within TNA Wrestling knew about. People within the organization discovered their marriage after Karen, more than a week later, posted photos from the wedding on her Facebook account. The two have been living together and raising their combined five children (three from Jeff’s first marriage to the late Jill Jarrett; two from Karen’s marriage to Kurt Angle).

– While Team 3D’s respective contracts with TNA Wrestling have expired, Brother Ray is still working for the promotion both as a producer and in creative.

How much more small time can you be if you are worried about being hammered by the NFL season opener. Of course you are going to be hammered by the NFL season opener. You only pull in 1.1 ratings on a good night as it is. Why worry about the NFL when your ratings are not spectacular to begin with. Pretty sad TNA. You don’t see WWE moving Raw to Tuesday or Wednesday because of Monday Night Football. Absolutely pathetic.

The same prob WCW hsd, TNA has. THEY ONLY CARE BOUT TEH RATINGZ!!!

Not that a TV show shouldn’t,but the emphasis shouldn’t be solely placed on it! You would of think, they knew this already.

If TNA didn’t care bout the damn ratings so much they would stop hotshotting stuff, plan out storylines better, better debuts etc etc.

Taking a show off and replacing it with something totally unrelated because you are worried its gonna get hammered by the NFL show, seems to be a ridiculous reason.
So instead of its regular, loyal viewers still being given a show to watch, they end up getting nothing.

Not exactly a good way to treat your viewers, in my opinion.
At the very least, if Spike truly was that worried, they should have asked TNA to put together some sort of highlights package or build up show (ya know, like the one TNA has ended up having to put online).

It just proves to me that Spike has no confidence in TNA anymore after the whole Monday night fiasco.

I can’t believe Kurt Angle is the kind of man to still work in the company of a man who took his wife.

Jarrett loves sloppy seconds. First, Mongo McMichaels wife Debra, and now Angles ex. I guess he covets his neighbors wives. Probably one of the worst wrestlers of all time…..
