Ring Rust Review: Smaking It Down

Triple R is back and we are going to discuss one of the better WWE programs and that is Smackdown. We open with a surprise, the Undertaker speaks, the usual blah, blah that taker rambles on about, don’t get me wrong I love the Undertaker but really can somebody find Paul Bearer. Lucky for us Chris Jericho interrupts and does his usual best to save a dying promo. I would love a ‘taker vs. Jericho match as these two rarely crossed paths I just wonder what will happen to the Tag Titles. We review “The great betrayal” and try to find answers, why Batista, why when it would have been so much cooler if Rey did the heel turn, think about it, much cooler, more on that later. We come back from a commercial to find, believe it or not a wrestling match, a decent one at that as Crime Tyme & Morrison take on Dolph and the Hats, classic match with a clean pin going to Dolph, good way to continue the feud between the two which looks interesting, If interested the WWE can have a pretty good tag division as long as they keep it to one brand, The Harts becoming champions could help……just saying.

Next..SQUASH ALERT, Drew Mcintyre takes out Jimmy Yang, I’m begging creative to come up with a light heavyweight division. Random thought (yeah scary) if Linda McMahon looses the CT election does that mean WWE will loose the PG programming? All my fellow Connecticians (yes, it’s a word now) vote no. Sorry Linda, Senators come and go but a good promo is golden. Anywho, I digress, back to Smakdown & Mcintyre , this kid looks to have a bright future or at least 15 minutes of fame, we will see. On a bright note I didn’t know Jimmy Wang still had a job so glass is half full. Next is Rey proving again (because I guess we forgot?) that he can beat the bigger athlete again it’s not like he hasn’t done that since you know…..FOEVER, seriously there are like maybe 5 wrestlers in the “E” who are lighter than him.

The third act of our show starts out with C.M. Punk vs. LL Who Cares, in all seriousness a very good match thought, R-Truth has so much to offer but they find so little to do with him, but wait what’s this? A win, holy crap, very cool, although I don’t know where they are going with this angle (or what Vince is doing in it), as exciting as it sounds Punk vs. the refs doesn’t seem to have any legs, I could be wrong…yeah moving on to the main event, Batista vs Matt “do these tights make me look fat” Hardy. BTW note to Matt, I don’t know what happen to version 1, but you need to reboot like now and without the tightees. Going back to my glass half full theory Matt did win the match. Now to finish my earlier thought on this whole Ray vs. Batista business, I’m trying to look at it from a couple of different angles, I have to remind myself that most fans do not have the resources or history that I have with wrestling, I remember being a kid and watching Andre rip the crucifix off of Hogan on Piper’s Pit, or at WM 5 when my favorite team at the time Strike Force disbanded, and who can forget Sean throwing Marty into the glass window. Some you saw coming others not so much, looking at it from that end, well…it still sucks, ha, really again the whole David vs. Goliath thing has been done to death, again I restate Rey turning heel would have been cooler, with his popularity and merchandise sale no one would see it coming, a true surprise in this internet and insider latent world of wrestling, Rey using is cunning and smarts to outwit outlast outplay…wait wrong show sorry, anyway you get the point, who knows it’s just one man’s opinion until next time…let’s watch.
